PRACTICAL NURSING PROGRAM
Program Description-Practical Nursing (PN)
The PN program is designed to prepare its graduates to provide hands-on professional nursing care with excellent knowledge and skills for the graduates to function effectively and succeed as practical nurses in diverse health care settings to effect positive change in healthcare for individual, family, community and the nation, by applying scientific knowledge and technical skills of disease prevention, health maintenance and rehabilitation. Upon successful completion of the program, the graduates will be illegible to take the National Certification Licensing examination for practical Nurses (NCLEX-PN) administered by the Florida Board of Nursing..
PN Program Objectives
Students who graduate from the programs are expected to:
1 Provide professional nursing care to promote health, reduce risk, and manage/prevent illness and disease for individuals, groups, and diverse populations.
2 Provide culturally competent care nursing care to individuals, families, and groups within diverse health care settings.
3 Exhibit professional nursing values and behavior in all activities.
4 Ability to use information and health care technologies to optimize patient care.
5 Exhibit the professional roles of care provider, care coordinator, work as a member of an interdisciplinary health care team, and a lifelong learner.
Program Outline/Admission and Entrance Requirements for the PN
- All applicants must meet the eligibility and requirements to be accepted into the Practical Nursing program. Applicants must meet the minimum skill levels in reading and math with a score of 65% or better on the diagnostic testing evaluation instrument which is the entrance exam (administered by the College) to be considered for admission into the PN program, with a minimum of two attempts.
- A completed application form
- Interview with the nursing program director or designated counselor
- A satisfactory background checks upon enrollment and prior to the start of the nursing major.
- A satisfactory drug screen result
Qualified candidates are admitted to the Nursing Program based on the policy and procedure of Victory College of Nursing
Students must complete a total clock hour of 1350 as described below to receive a Diploma in Nursing Practice. Program length is approximately 12 months (52 weeks), and this may vary if a student transfers in general education credits with a grade of āCā or higher. Students must also maintain a minimum of 75% in order to proceed successfully through the program.
The classes are on on-campus.
